CHEYENNE, Wyo. – The National Weather Service issued multiple severe thunderstorm warnings Monday afternoon for southeastern Wyoming and western Nebraska as intense storms brought threats of large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall.

In southeastern Laramie County, a severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 5:30 p.m. MDT. As of 4:44 p.m., radar indicated storms stretching from Gun Barrel to near Carpenter, moving east at 25 mph. These storms are capable of producing golf ball-sized hail and wind gusts up to 60 mph.

Communities in the path include Pine Bluffs, Burns, Albin, Egbert, Hillsdale, Gun Barrel, and the Pine Bluffs Municipal Airport. Officials urge residents to seek shelter in sturdy buildings and stay away from windows.

Meanwhile, a separate warning is in place for northwestern Scotts Bluff and southwestern Sioux counties in Nebraska, and east central Goshen County in Wyoming, also until 5:30 p.m. MDT. A nearly stationary storm was located over Lingle, seven miles northwest of Torrington, at 4:54 p.m.

This storm is producing wind gusts up to 70 mph and quarter-sized hail. Locations impacted include Torrington, Lingle, Lyman, Henry, Southern Hills Estates, Torrington Municipal Airport, and the Goshen County Fairgrounds.

Authorities also warned of torrential rainfall with the potential for flash flooding. Residents are advised to move to interior rooms on the lowest floor and avoid driving through flooded roadways.
