GRETNA, Neb. — A native Nebraskan and one of the greatest volleyball players of all time is preparing to step away from the court.

Jordan Larson announced Friday morning that she will retire from professional volleyball following the upcoming season. The four-time Olympian and co-founder of LOVB Nebraska said she will remain involved with the sport by continuing to lead a new ownership group for the team.

“Rather than making this the finish line, I want to spend this season honoring the people, places, and moments that shaped it all. Every gym, every jersey, every teammate and coach has played a role and this year is my way of saying thank you.”

Larson, a Logan View graduate, helped lead Nebraska to the 2006 national championship before beginning her professional career in 2009 in Puerto Rico. Her career has spanned teams in Russia, Turkey, China and Italy, before she helped found LOVB Omaha in 2024.

She later joined the ownership group alongside former Creighton head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth as part of the team’s rebrand to LOVB Nebraska.

Larson’s final season begins Sunday, when LOVB Nebraska hosts LOVB Houston at Baxter Arena in Omaha.
