Nebraska gas prices have been above 3 dollars a gallon for months now, and experts expect prices to continue to jump as the more expensive summer blend gets back into cars.

The average price of a gallon of gas in Nebraska is currently $3.40 a gallon, up from $3.20 a gallon in March.

And other car costs are rising as well.

According to the latest federal report, auto insurance costs -- have spiked 22 percent over the last twelve months.

Car repairs and maintenance, up just over 8 percent.

Greg Brannon/ AAA Director of Automotive Research: “It's not just that labor rates are up at body shops and repair shops around the cost of parts. It's also often that you're having to wait for those parts to arrive.”

Experts do expect gas prices to dip this fall, possibly by 10-20 cents per gallon, as the summer driving surge ends and fewer drivers are on the road, lessening the demand for gas.

For the next few months though Nebraska gas prices are expected to rise.
