LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - An inmate at the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services’ Reception and Treatment Center has died.

Lonnie Patman, 77, died Tuesday. His sentence began Jan. 27, 1987. He was serving a life sentence out of Douglas County for first-degree murder, court documents show.

While the cause of death has not yet been determined, Patman was being treated for a medical condition, officials said.

As is the case whenever an inmate dies in the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, a grand jury will conduct an investigation.
