Tax cuts move forward, concerns remain
Two more votes needed to send package to Gov, Jim Pillen's desk.
With what Gov. Jim Pillen calls "bushel baskets" of cash in the state's well-off wallet, Nebraska lawmakers have moved along a package of income tax cuts, property tax cuts, and education funding changes totaling some $3 billion.
But the initial vote for the package—two more votes are needed—comes with plenty of questions.
First and foremost, who benefits the most.

According to the left-leaning think tank Open Sky the rich get richer as the cuts, “would benefit the wealthiest Nebraskans and send more money to out-of-staters than our own middle- and lower-wage earners.”
