LPD arrests man for sexual assault of a child

LINCOLN, Neb.  - 59-year-old Rafael Lomeli has been arrested for sexual assault of a child.

The Lincoln Police Department said there was a complaint on December 15 when a mother reported to police her young daughter was touched inappropriately by an adult male a few weeks prior. The mother said the event occurred while the child was playing outside a family member’s home in northwest Lincoln.

After an investigation, police said they identified Lomeli as the person responsible.

He was arrested on Friday at his home and charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child.
